How to check the flatness of the porcelain tile
The Surface Flatness is the one of the key parameters to check when you check the quality of any tile. We take the flatness of surface with utmost importance by undergoing following two process :
First is the automatic surface planarity machine which checks and notes down the surface flatness after the tile rectifies on the production line. If the parameters go outside of the preferred range then the machine triggers an error alarm to notify the production operator.
Second thing which we do and which is most critical is we undergo a planarity test. We conduct this test after 24 hours of the production is done. We choose on an average random 10 tiles from every 1000 tiles produced of the same batch number for the test.
We check the Surface Flatness with the Feeler Gauge. Feeler Gauge is an instrument used to check the gap width and we check in the metric units i.e. mm
We check the surface flatness near all four edges of the porcelain tile and then diagonal both sides of the porcelain tile.
According to the ISO 10545-2 test, the porcelain tile is allowed upto +/- 0.5%. Our typical 10mm tile is allowed to go upto +/-0.5mm on feeler gauge on the straight sides and upto +/- 0.7mm on diagonal sides.
